"HONORABLE KASTURBA GANDHI"
Kasturba Gandhi, also known as Kasturba Mohandas Gandhi or Ba, was the wife of Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of the Indian independence movement. She played a significant role in the Indian independence struggle and was an active participant in various social and political activities alongside her husband.
Kasturba Gandhi was born on April 11, 1869, in Porbandar, India, in a wealthy business family. She married Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in 1883 when she was 14 years old. The marriage was arranged, as was the custom in India at that time.
Kasturba Gandhi supported her husband in his political and social endeavors, including the campaigns for civil rights and independence from British rule. She participated in various movements, including nonviolent protests and civil disobedience. Kasturba and Mahatma Gandhi had four children together.
She spent time in prison on several occasions for her involvement in the independence movement. Kasturba Gandhi was committed to the principles of nonviolence and simple living, which were central to her husband’s philosophy.
